Granite City Acquires Baynes Electric, Baynes and Jones Electric

Granite City Electric Supply in Quincy, Massachusetts recently concluded an asset acquisition of Baynes Electric Supply and Baynes and Jones Electric Supply.

The complementary combination of Baynes Electric and Granite City Electric locations creates a broader service network with greater inventory breadth and delivery options for New England customers. The combined companies will provide more locations for customers throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. With the addition of the Baynes’ four locations, Granite City Electric Supply Co. now has a current total of 30 locations throughout New England.

Baynes Electric has been serving contractors, institutions, national and retail lighting accounts since 1956 and is a family-owned company with a similar approach to building customer loyalty, a strong brand, and a solid distribution channel. Mars Electric Opens New Akron Branch

Mars Electric moved its Akron, Ohio branch to 190 Opportunity Parkway, which has easy access from Interstate 76, Interstate 77, Route 8 and Route 59.

The new location is a one-stop-shop with 12,000 square feet of space and 20,000 products in stock.

Automated will-call lockers are located outside of the building so customers can pick up materials at their convenience 24/7.

Attached to the branch is a large warehouse for easy staging and prefabrication of materials to help save contractors time and money.

Crescent Electric Wins Silver Telly Awards

Crescent Electric Supply Co. won two Silver Telly Awards for its recently created StockNOW promotional video. The video, which promotes Crescent’s onsite inventory management programs, resulted in the company’s first non-industry specific national marketing awards. The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, production companies and includes Dow Jones, Duplass Brothers productions, Complex Networks, A&E Networks, Hearst Media, ESPN Films, RYOT, Vice+ and Vimeo.

The video won in two categories: Branded Content: 3D Graphics/Animation (Non-Stereoscopic) and Branded Content: Business-to-Business. Crescent Electric worked with Ash Stiles and Sam Garland of Ash Stiles Design on this acclaimed project. “We applaud the collaborative efforts of Ash Stiles Design and our in-house marketing team. 2020 Showroom of the Year Winners Announced: IMARK Members Prevail

The 11th annual Showroom of the Year Awards were announced June 24 in a Facebook Live event on the Lightovation Facebook page. The ceremony, typically held as part of the summer Lightovation show in Dallas, went virtual this year after the coronavirus crisis prompted the cancellation of the in-person lighting event.

The Showroom of the Year Awards, a collaborative program organized by Furniture, Lighting & Decor magazine and Lightovation host Dallas Market Center, recognizes three Showroom of the Year winners in different dollar-volume categories each year, along with three specialty awards.

From entries and nominations received between December 2019 and February 2020, there were five finalists in each of three dollar-volume categories: Annual Revenue Under $2 million, Revenue Under $5 Million and Revenue $5 Million and Over. All 15 Showroom of the Year finalists were also eligible for three specialty awards: Outstanding Merchandising Display, Exceptional Community Involvement and Social Media Star.

The 11th Annual Showroom of the Year winners are:

Linda Watson Retires from Parrish-Hare

After 24 years of faithful service to Parrish-Hare, Linda Watson retired as of June 30. She served in various administrative roles, most recently focused on human resources responsibilities.

Summit Names Robert Case Senior VP of Sales

Robert Case has joined Summit Electric Supply as its senior vice president of sales. Case will have full responsibility for Summit’s domestic and international sales teams, including EP&C and strategic accounts, as well as both the marketing and supplier relations departments.

Case joins Summit after spending the previous four years as senior vice president and general manager for Distribution International (DI), the largest North American distributor in the commercial and industrial insulation markets. In that capacity, he led acquisition, integration and business transformation efforts.

Prior to DI, Case spent 25 years in electrical distribution, including 15 years at Rexel, where he most recently served as vice president of the U.S. oil and gas business.

Case attended Clemson University as well as advanced business leadership programs at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and the IMD Business School for Management and Leadership in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Warshauer Adds Colin Casey, Ron Vilardi to Sales Team

Colin Casey and Ron Vilardi have joined Warshauer Electric Supply.

Casey will assume the role of a sales professional specialist based out of the company’s Tinton Falls, New Jersey location.

He formerly worked in the commercial/residential lighting group at Cooper Electric Supply and has 33 years total experience in the lighting industry. While he has vast experience in lighting, lighting controls and energy audits, he will take on a hybrid role as both an inside and outside sales professional. He will utilize his experience in the lighting world to lend support to the commercial lighting group, The Lighting Design Center and the existing inside/outside sales professionals.

Vilardi spent the last two and a half years as an account manager at Greenlee Tools/Emerson. His role will grow and develop over time as he begins his career in electrical distribution. He will work very closely with the management team and will eventually take on a hybrid role of inside sales, outside sales and tool/hardware specialist. He will continue to develop this role while also taking on accounts as a full-time electrical sales professional.
